Colour consultation in Plymouth, from the decorator who paints it
Colour and interior design advice is part of how I work from the first visit, so the scheme you choose is the scheme that gets painted.
What happens in a colour consultation in Plymouth?
A colour consultation in Plymouth with me starts in your home, looking at the light, the rooms and how you use them. We talk about your style, what you want to keep and what is not working, then agree colours, finishes and details such as woodwork and ceilings before any decorating begins.
On a whole home in Kingsbridge, we used mainly Farrow & Ball colours. Strong White, a warm, grey-based white, ran through the house as the base, with Sulking Room Pink, School House White, Pigeon, Shaded White and Green Smoke used where each room needed them. The entrance porch went entirely Strong White, cabinetry, walls, ceiling and door, and some kitchen walls were colour matched to the units so they looked built in.
My advice does not have to stop at paint. One customer had help with lighting and door handles too, once I had spent time understanding their style. As I have always said, "I love it when customers have complete faith in letting me advise on colour and detailing and take pride in taking bland rooms and making them fit for a King or Queen." If you already know your colours, my interior decorating and wallpaper hanging pages explain the practical side.

QUESTIONS
What is a colour consultation?
A colour consultation is a visit where a designer or decorator looks at your rooms, the natural light and your style, then helps you choose paint colours, finishes and details that work together. With Daniel Riley in Plymouth, colour advice is part of the decorating process, so the advice and the painting come from the same person.
How do I choose the right white for my room?
Choosing the right white depends on the light in the room. North-facing rooms get cooler light, so a warmer white often feels softer, while sunnier rooms can take cooler whites. Daniel Riley used Strong White, a warm, grey-based white from Farrow & Ball, as the base in one Kingsbridge home. Testing large samples on more than one wall helps.
Can paint be colour matched to kitchen units?
Paint can be colour matched to kitchen units so the walls and cabinetry sit together as one. Daniel Riley colour matched kitchen walls to the units in a Kingsbridge home so they looked built in. Colour matching works best when the colour is judged against the units in the room's own light.
Can Daniel Riley help with more than paint colours?
Daniel Riley's colour and interior design advice can go beyond paint. Customers have had help with colour schemes, woodwork and ceiling colours, and accessories such as lighting and door handles. Daniel has over 10 years' experience in interior design as well as painting and decorating, and can put you in touch with trusted carpenters and plasterers.
